We started OnCourse in late 2013 after identifying a lack of education, training and employment opportunities in Nakuru, Kenya which were tightening the grip of poverty on local communities. OnCourse began with the team spending time with a large number of people who were both capable and driven to improve their quality of life, but through no fault of their own, were unable to do so.
Countless people in these communities have their education cut short at a young age by financial pressures, and quickly find themselves with no employable skills and a lack of opportunities for them to gain these skills. Without employment or education, individuals are unable to generate a sustainable source of income or fully realise their own value as members of the community.
A lack of income for basic healthcare and education;
Due to desperation and a lack of access to relevant information, individuals are often more likely to earn incomes through crime, prostitution and other socially undesirable methods; and
Individuals face a higher risk of substance abuse, suicide and other serious issues which can destroy households.
We started OnCourse to address these issues, and empower passionate people to create positive change in the world.
